HolaOS is a local-first, agentic workspace designed to integrate various applications, chat tools, and AI models into a unified, side-by-side interface. Unlike traditional chat-based AI, HolaOS provides interactive UI surfaces for apps like Notion and web browsers, allowing users to collaborate with agents in real-time rather than through text transcripts. The platform supports a wide array of integrations, including Slack, Gmail, GitHub, and over 50 others via one-click OAuth, and allows users to extend functionality using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Key technical features include a shared, durable memory system stored locally as editable plain files and a multi-model approach that supports built-in frontier models—such as GPT 5.6, Claude Opus 5, Kimi K3, and Fable 5—as well as Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for OpenAI or Anthropic endpoints. Users can also deploy custom "skills" and "recipes" via the HolaHub marketplace. Designed for privacy, all workspace files, embeddings, and session histories remain on the user's local disk. The software is available as a desktop application and as open-source under a modified Apache 2.0 license, with installation facilitated via a shell script for macOS, Linux, or WSL.
