OpenBot is a local‑first desktop workspace that hosts persistent AI teammates, giving each agent its own isolated environment, conversation history, and local resources. It integrates multiple AI runtimes—Codex, Claude, Grok, OpenCode, Gemini, Cursor and Cline—through the Agent Communication Protocol (ACP) and supplies per‑agent queues, file transfers, an embedded browser, and agent‑to‑agent messaging within a single application. The platform supports macOS 13+ (Apple silicon or Intel), Windows 10 x64 and Linux x64/arm64 via an AppImage that uses fuse3 and works on Arch Linux without libfuse2. Installation proceeds by downloading the appropriate DMG, EXE or AppImage from GitHub releases, dragging to Applications or running the installer, and optionally configuring an AppArmor profile on newer Ubuntu/Debian systems. Security notes highlight that agents operate with full file‑system, network and browser access after the initial launch consent, so users should run trusted agents and keep backups. OpenBot also offers optional account management via email‑verified Cloudflare Workers/D1 endpoints, local diagnostics exports, and an optional Computer Use driver for macOS, Windows and Linux. Provider CLIs are automatically downloaded and pinned; users may override paths with OPENBOT_*_PATH variables. The development tooling includes Bun 1.4.2, Node 24 and a suite of commands for seeding, resetting and verifying isolated worktree profiles, enabling rapid testing of the workspace and its integrated agents.
