To address the obsolescence of the original Awesome-Cybersecurity-Datasets repository, which had remained unmaintained since 2021, a modernized fork has been released to serve as the 2026 standard for cybersecurity research and machine learning. The overhaul removes outdated resources, such as the 1999 KDD Cup and 2011 Yahoo password data, replacing them with contemporary datasets essential for training modern intrusion detection and EDR models. Key updates include the integration of the SOREL-20M dataset and a new Malware Families Catalog containing over 2,899 specific families, including Pikabot and LockBit, mapped directly to MITRE ATT&CK tactics. The repository now addresses emerging domains like Generative AI security by including JailbreakBench and Jailbreak_LLMs prompt injection databases. Furthermore, the update incorporates cloud and supply chain security resources, such as the Mordor project’s simulated AWS/Azure JSON security events and the Backstabber's Knife Collection for NPM/PyPI attacks. To improve usability for testing WAF evasion, the outdated CSIC 2010 data was replaced with the OpenAppSec WAF Comparison Dataset, which features millions of requests and tens of thousands of malicious payloads. The project has transitioned from a static Markdown file to a fully interactive, searchable frontend to facilitate more efficient threat hunting and research.
