Stack Internal's 2026.6 release introduces significant enhancements focused on enterprise security, API management, and knowledge lifecycle automation. To bolster administrative control, the update introduces a dedicated Security settings page featuring header-enforced API keys via X-API-Key headers for v2.3 requests, session inactivity controls, and granular daily rate limits of up to 10,000 requests per application. Security is further strengthened through secret rotation and the classification of keys as non-displayable secrets. To maintain content freshness for human users and AI agents, administrators can now implement article expiration for announcements, which triggers automatic soft-deletion of outdated posts. Communication tools were expanded with the general availability of Community Broadcasts for top-of-page and "For You" notifications, alongside a tenfold increase in custom award limits, moving from 10 to 100. Programmatic improvements include v3 API updates such as new synonym endpoints (/tags/{tagId}/synonyms) and enriched user context via the /users/{id} endpoint, which now provides vote counts, badge summaries, and ExternalID for HR directory syncing. Additionally, the Backstage plugin (v1.7.0+) was updated to support the New Frontend System. Finally, accessibility was improved through enhanced screen reader announcements, refined keyboard focus management for dialogs and graphs, and optimized color contrast and semantic markup to ensure information is not conveyed through color alone.
