In the 2025 survey, 31 % said they used AI agents; the April 2026 pulse showed agent adoption nearly doubling to 59 %, with Claude Code climbing from 41 % to 55 % of agent users. Among those employing out‑of‑the‑box assistants, ChatGPT was selected by 82 % and GitHub Copilot by 68 %, while Google Gemini, Claude Code, and Microsoft Copilot trailed at 47 %, 41 %, and 31 % respectively. Student engagement with AI grew from 63.0 % in 2024 to 73.3 % in 2025, yet favorable sentiment fell from 72.2 % to 52.8 % and skepticism quadrupled from 6.4 % to 26.3 %. Work‑setting breakdowns for 2025 showed 32.4 % fully remote, 17.9 % strictly on‑site, 37.1 % in structured hybrid models, and 12.6 % with high flexibility. Tool‑count data indicated 45.5 % of developers used 1‑5 platforms, 35.4 % used 6‑10, and 9.5 % relied on 11‑15. Adoption of foundational infrastructure rose sharply: Docker to 71.1 %, Kubernetes to 28.5 %, Terraform to 17.8 %, and PostgreSQL to 55.6 %. Job‑satisfaction metrics placed 24.5 % of respondents as happy, 47.1 % complacent, and 28.4 % unhappy, with notable regional variations. Compensation gains varied widely, ranging from a 29.3 % increase for product managers to a 5.1 % rise for data engineers between 2024 and 2025.
